Medical 3D Areola Micro Pigmentation Course

Areola Micropigmentation Certification in Sydney with Certified and Experienced Instructor

The areola micropigmentation certification in Sydney at ATSCI teaches you one of the most meaningful and rewarding procedures in cosmetic tattooing, the recreation of a natural, lifelike areola and nipple. This procedure is performed for both men and women who have an irregular areola, who wish to camouflage scars after reconstructive breast surgery, or who simply want to restore the faded colour of the areola over time.

Delivered one on one and in person by founder Amanda Bishay, who brings over 20 years of experience and more than 12 years running her own clinic, this is a genuinely specialised, clinic based training. Clients are usually referred to you by cosmetic or plastic surgeons to add the finishing touch to their surgical work, so it is both a clinically important skill and a strong reason to build relationships with surgeons in your area.

What You Will Learn

You will learn to create the illusion of a real, three dimensional areola and nipple through careful placement, precise measuring techniques, and expert colour work. The realism comes from understanding light, shadow and highlight, using layered pigment tones to create depth and protrusion on what is actually a flat surface.

Whether you are working on a blank canvas after reconstruction or following an existing areola, you will learn to achieve a natural, balanced and lifelike result that restores a genuine sense of completeness for the client.

Your training focuses on the specialised skills this delicate procedure requires:

  • Correct placement, shape and symmetry of the areola on the breast
  • Measuring techniques to create balanced, natural looking results
  • Mixing and matching colour for a realistic 3D effect
  • Selecting pigments to suit each client’s individual skin tone
  • Working sensitively with clients after breast surgery
  • Working safely over scar tissue and understanding how it holds pigment
  • Understanding when the procedure can safely be performed

You will practise your technique on materials such as pork skin to achieve a genuinely real looking areola before working on models, so you build confidence in a controlled, supervised way and refine your shading before ever touching real skin.

Who This Course Is For

This course is ideal for cosmetic tattoo artists, aestheticians and clinic owners who already have foundational skills and want to offer a deeply meaningful medical service. It is a natural progression for anyone performing microblading or cosmetic tattoo who wants to expand into paramedical work and partner with surgeons, and surgeon referrals provide a steady, ongoing stream of clients once those relationships are established.

Because these procedures do so much more than improve appearance, helping clients rebuild self-esteem and confidence after difficult surgery, they are enormously rewarding to perform. Many practitioners describe areola work as the most fulfilling part of their entire practice. As a one day advanced workshop, it can also be added to the microblading cosmetic tattoo beginners course for those building a broader skill set.

Course Details

This is a one day advanced workshop that can be taken on its own or added to the microblading cosmetic tattoo beginners course. The focus throughout is on the correct placement, shape and colour of the areola, and on using measuring techniques to create a genuinely lifelike 3D result that looks natural from every angle. You will also cover consultation, documentation and aftercare, so you can guide clients through the process from first appointment to healed result.

Training is delivered in person at the Merrylands clinic in Sydney or interstate, since ATSCI trains Australia wide. All students find their own models, and models are typically charged a small fee per procedure to cover the cost of cartridges, pigment and disposables. Sharing the opportunity with family, friends or on social media is an easy way to find willing models, since they save a significant amount compared with the usual procedure cost.

Why Train With ATSCI?

This is specialised, real clinic training from a founder who understands both the technical precision and the emotional sensitivity these procedures demand. Amanda teaches you to think through each individual case rather than follow a formula, which is essential when every client’s anatomy, skin and surgical history is different. You will also learn how to communicate with compassion, since many clients arrive carrying the emotional weight of their surgical journey.

Training is one on one and competency based, so you finish genuinely confident to perform this delicate work. You also gain ongoing mentorship and support, with Amanda available long after your training to guide you as you build relationships with surgeons, approach clinics with professional referral proposals, and grow this rewarding side of your practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a one day advanced workshop, which can be taken on its own or added to the microblading cosmetic tattoo beginners course for a broader skill set.

This procedure is performed only once the client has fully healed after reconstruction, and the course teaches you exactly how to assess suitability and timing.

Some foundational cosmetic tattoo skill is beneficial, which is why this advanced workshop pairs so well with the microblading beginners course for those starting out.
