Areola Micropigmentation Certification

You will learn to create the illusion of a real, three dimensional areola and nipple through careful placement, precise measuring techniques, and expert colour work. The realism comes from understanding light, shadow and highlight, using layered pigment tones to create depth and protrusion on what is actually a flat surface.

Whether you are working on a blank canvas after reconstruction or following an existing areola, you will learn to achieve a natural, balanced and lifelike result that restores a genuine sense of completeness for the client.

Your training focuses on the specialised skills this delicate procedure requires:

• Correct placement, shape and symmetry of the areola on the breast
• Measuring techniques to create balanced, natural looking results
• Mixing and matching colour for a realistic 3D effect
• Selecting pigments to suit each client’s individual skin tone
• Working sensitively with clients after breast surgery
• Working safely over scar tissue and understanding how it holds pigment
• Understanding when the procedure can safely be performed

You will practise your technique on materials such as pork skin to achieve a genuinely real looking areola before working on models, so you build confidence in a controlled, supervised way and refine your shading before ever touching real skin.

This is a one day advanced workshop that can be taken on its own or added to the microblading cosmetic tattoo beginners course. The focus throughout is on the correct placement, shape and colour of the areola, and on using measuring techniques to create a genuinely lifelike 3D result that looks natural from every angle. You will also cover consultation, documentation and aftercare, so you can guide clients through the process from first appointment to healed result.

Training is delivered in person at the Merrylands clinic in Sydney or interstate, since ATSCI trains Australia wide. All students find their own models, and models are typically charged a small fee per procedure to cover the cost of cartridges, pigment and disposables. Sharing the opportunity with family, friends or on social media is an easy way to find willing models, since they save a significant amount compared with the usual procedure cost.
